"Visited before. It’s good to see they have renovated as it was starting to look v tired"

The sea has moved in so much over the years that there really is no place to sunbathe on the beach by the hotel. You can walk further down the beach - given space limited sun beds on the decking area.

Bar was expensive so no-one really used it. Pure Ocean restaurant was just ok. Apartment was a bit tired in places. Felt it was expensive for what it was but worth paying the extra for pool/garden view.

"This was our fourth Christmas holidays at Vila Bicuda. Everything was excellent, as always, except that we were accommodated in a house that had recently been renovated, and there was a strong smell of paint in the bedroom."

The location is beautifully quiet and serene, away from the hustle of the city. Surrounded by nature and heritage charm, it felt like a perfect peaceful escape. "Magic Reef is a beautiful resort, very relaxing. The bungalows are well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. It was also great to have our own comfortable lounge chairs on the deck to take in the views out over the reef, watching the waves crashing and the sun setting which was all simply breathtaking. There are a few really good restaurants within walking distance down the beach, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing time. We hired a car for a couple of days to explore around the island, enjoy some beach swimming, snorkeling and to eat at some different restaurants. The pool was great, lovely temperature and depth. Our hosts and all the staff were friendly, helpful and we enjoyed talking with them. Thanks for the beautiful platter in the fridge, the beers, juice etc which was so appreciated. We would highly recommend Magic Reef if you like a small boutique resort."

"This is my fourth visit . It’s a perfect place to relax and enjoy the sunshine. I found the food at the all inclusive restaurants. The staff were very helpful. The gardens looked beautiful . I found a sun bed at the beach each day with no problem. The WiFi worked well around the resort."

"Just generally one of those special places that will stick in my memory forever. A collection of pretty little cabins by the beach surrounded by palm trees with hammocks slung between them for whiling away the days. With only the sounds of birds and waves. Where everyone just hangs out and chats, the staff, the other guests, the extremely interesting and gregarious owner Gregory (no pun intended). I could spend a week here just forgetting about the outside world. The various arrangements (airport transfer, transfer back to town, activities) all went smoothly as well. Which is my no means guaranteed in this part of the world."

Not much but if I went again I'd maybe pay a little more for the room with ensuite shower rather than sharing a communal shower with non locking door. Obviously this is budget accommodation in West Africa so it's of the rustic eco lodge variety rather than the western style hotel room variety in case anyone is expecting that.

"This place is fantastic and definitely exceeded my expectations! You get free pick up and drop off to the airport. The room and bathroom were super clean, the bed is comfy, the AC works great and you have good WiFi throughout the hotel. The grounds were very well kept as well as the pools, all clean and beautifully liked with palm trees. The staff was incredibly attentive, kind, and helpful. The view from the restaurant is very nice and you see the ocean in the background. The food was very good and all freshly made on the spot. Sure, the building is a bit old and the furniture in the rooms may be a bit outdated but the stay is wonderful and with great views, food and staff, which more than make up for it."

"I have never been to a Taj before, so I have nothing to compare it to. The lobby is impressive and the location with direct access to the beach is great. The staff is lovely and the housekeeping do so much for you, Saudtha I believe, checked on us regularly and brought us more water or towels."

When a twin is converted into a double room, one of the guests end up without space to put their things and the light switches are at the wrong place.

Our room was cold, Maintenance came to sort it out but he didn't really know much about the thermostat, said he sorted it and it won't take long to heat uo, but never did, wasn't ideal with a little baby, said baby was asleep by time we realised it wasn't heating up. A small blemish on what was otherwise a really nice stay.

"The hotel is great and in an amazing location which is right inside the airport. Staff were polite and amazing, great buffet breakfast, there is mini zoo which had wildlife such as monkeys, crocodile, tortoise, parrot, ostriches, peacocks etc. The rooms and facilities was great and it was a great stay. They provided free shuttle to the airport which is a bonus."
